About
Satori (they/them) was born in Key West, Florida and grew up in Lawrence, Kansas. They hold a BA in English & Creative Writing with a minor in Ancient Civilizations from the University of Iowa. Currently, they are a third-year MFA fiction candidate and graduate teaching assistant at George Mason University, where they worked as Managing Editor and Editor in Chief of So to Speak.
Their work appears in Does it Have Pockets, Vagabond City, and elsewhere. They have been nominated for the Pushcart by Fugue and M E N A C E, and their short story "Tilapia" won Fugue's 2025 Prose Contest.
Satori works as a ghost writer for the true crime channel Darklivity, and has done one total half marathons. They spend most of their time cuddling their cats, Sam & Frodo, and their partner, the elusive and yet somehow famous Matti Ben-Lev. When given a break, they opt to spend their time traveling, camping, attending Fine Arts Work Center and Community of Writers workshops, and wistfully recalling days when they could afford to contribute to their Roth IRA.
